Freeze Bomb Art and apparel was started 2011 In New York By myself, Tyler Oakley as a way to support my art studio and get my work out to the public without selling my soul to a huge design company or art house. All of the art and apparel is created, pressed, painted, inked and so on, in my New York studio.
the Name "Freeze Bomb" pays homage to East coast art styles. Bombing is a term for tagging or putting up Graffiti on things. Rooted in social and political movements it's become an art form from it's humble Roots.
Now 'Freeze" is a bit more complex. It has a few meaning behind it. Freezing something, holding it in time, creating a solid image from a moving scene... A cop yelling freeze at an artist in mid spray in east village. The cold on New York's cold streets. In short, it just seemed to fit. I came up with the name
Now to Expand on the whole "Indie" thing. A lot of Clothing labels and art houses like to call themselves Independent when it's simply not the case. they outsource all of their work to a printer and get most of their wares sold by someone else. Here at FreezeBomb we do ALL of that in house.
All of the T-shirts, art, stickers, etc that Freezebomb ships out are done in What I've come to call "the lair". The Lair is a Large subterranean concrete room where all of the magic happens. The T-shirts are all Printed traditionally using either a handmade rotary press or a line pressing system. The stickers are pressed and cut. The Buttons are pressed using a Hand Press, and all of it is done using Environmentally friendly Inks, dyes, and so on.
Everything from the Screen exposures to the Inking of the shirts is done right here on site where i'm typing this from as we speak. What does this mean for you? Well it means that when you buy from FreezeBomb your money isn't going to some mega corporation. Your money is going to an art studio that loves what it does and hasn't lost it's soul. you can see the love of art in all of FreezeBombs work.
